THE PROCESS

Each piece contributed to a learning process, exploring layout, techniques, and sensory design to create visually distinctive outcomes. Each edition featured bilingual content with English and Turkish to increase accessibility. Each volume revolves around a central motif, drawing on the visual storytelling traditions found in Turkish textile patterns.

TURKISH LEGENDS

This volume brings to life key figures and stories in Turkish folklore. It enhances interactivity with features such as articulated puppets, fold-outs, pop-ups, and gold leaf details on illustrated statues. A variety of textured papers improves the physical experience and promotes tactile engagement.

TURKISH TRADITIONS

This introductory series examines aspects of Turkish culture. Full-page digital illustrations are complemented by small text cutouts, ensuring the visuals stay clear. Smaller illustrations are revealed later when the page is turned, creating a more interactive and layered experience.

TURKISH MYTHS

The final series explores Turkish myths using vibrant colours, bold interactivity, 3D pop-outs, fold-outs, anaglyphs, comic strips, and chewing gum, combining playfulness with cultural reflection.

THE DESIGN LANGUAGE

Across all three series, the aim was to craft an engaging, multi-sensory reading experience. Tactile paper finishes, vibrant illustration styles, and thoughtful text placement guided the reader through each story. Small, considered design choices, like hidden fold-outs and layered visuals, encouraged readers to pause, interact, and fully connect with each cultural narrative.
